If I Had One Hour Left to Live, I'd Say This (And It’s Not What You Think)

Let’s say the clock’s ticking.
Sixty minutes left.
No extensions.
No bonus rounds.
No surprise plot twist where the universe grants me a sequel.
Just 3,600 seconds to reflect, confess, shout, cry, whisper… live.
If that were me—one hour from my final exhale—I wouldn’t spend it regretting the nights I ate carbs past 9PM or stayed in a relationship six months too long.
I wouldn’t obsess over the unread emails or the cellulite on my thighs or the book I never finished.
Nope.
If I had one hour left, I’d say this:
1. Stop Pretending You’re Fine When You’re Not
Can we please normalize saying, “Actually, I’m not okay right now, but thanks for asking”?
You don’t have to slap a smile on your face and hustle through your pain like you're auditioning for the role of “Emotionally Stable Human #1.”
We are all a little broken. We’re all carrying something.
Let that sh*t out. Scream into a pillow. Cry in your car. Make your therapist earn their paycheck.
The point is: feeling it is not failing.
2. Don’t Wait for the Big “One Day”
One day you’ll write that book.
One day you’ll travel to Bali.
One day you’ll fall in love like a damn Nicholas Sparks novel.
Stop outsourcing your life to “someday.”
Life isn’t waiting for you to be ready.
It’s happening now—in messy kitchens, awkward conversations, and belly laughs that make you pee a little.
You don't need a grand plan. You need presence.
3. Say the Damn Thing
Say “I love you” first.
Say “I forgive you” even if they never asked.
Say “I'm proud of you” to yourself, out loud, in the mirror.
This world is noisy with judgment, but silent with the words that actually matter.
So say them. Say them before you don’t get the chance.
4. You’re Allowed to Change Your Mind
You don’t have to stay stuck in an identity you outgrew.
You’re not a failure because you pivoted. You’re not flaky because you evolved.
That dream you thought was your forever? Maybe it was just your stepping stone. Let it go.
Choose again.
Choose something that fits who you’re becoming—not who you were trying to impress.
5. Perfection is a Scam. Stop Buying Into It.
Your highlight reel is not your whole story. Neither is anyone else’s.
Nobody’s out here nailing all their goals, drinking green juice, meditating for 45 minutes, AND having mind-blowing sex on a Tuesday.
That person doesn’t exist.
You’re not behind—you’re human.
6. Laugh More. Like, Ugly Laugh.
Even in the grief. Especially in the chaos.
If I had one hour left, I’d spend part of it rewatching that video of the goat that yells like a human.
I’d call my best friend and laugh until I couldn’t breathe.
Joy doesn’t need a reason. It’s medicine. It’s rebellion. It’s holy.
7. Let People Love You, Even When You Don’t Feel Worthy
Let them in when you’re messy.
Let them hold you when you’re falling apart.
Let them see the raw, unfiltered, “I don’t have it together” you.
You don’t have to earn love. You don’t have to perform for it.
Just receive it. You’re worthy. You’ve always been.
8. Your Life Mattered. You Just Forgot to Notice
Maybe you didn’t cure cancer or become a billionaire or go viral on TikTok.
But maybe you made someone feel less alone.
Maybe you loved someone so hard it softened their armor.
Maybe you showed up, even when it was hard.
That counts.
That’s legacy.
So… What Now?
You’re not actually dying (I hope).
But time is running out—for all of us.
And no, this isn’t a guilt trip.
It’s a love note. A cosmic wake-up call.
Live louder. Love deeper.
Be messier. Say what matters.
Because if I had one hour left, I’d spend it telling the world: You are so loved. So needed. So wildly capable of living a life that makes you proud.
Go do that.
Starting now.
